DuraStreet Exceeds New Energy Star Criteria
During 2008, the US Department of Energy (USDOE) began to create Energy Star certification program standards for outdoor solid state lighting, including LED luminaires. The draft standards, released on July 1, 2009, require the following for street light luminaire applications:

Energy Star is in the process of creating a street lighting retrofit category. EcoFit’s DuraStreet LED Light Engines exceed the ENERGY STAR certification guidelines proposed during late 2009. When final guidelines are published, EcoFit will submit product samples for official certification.

Fitted Target Efficiency: The FTE Calculator created by USDOE extracts information from a selected LM-79-08 absolute photometry IES file for a desired luminaire, and projects the luminaire output onto a grid along the area to be illuminated, such as a street or parking garage floor. (Download the FTE Calculator and instructions by clicking the links in the Energy Star Ratings Criteria document.) The resulting FTE calculation is used to measure how efficiently the luminaire illuminates the grid.

FTE requirements are categorized by “low output (< 9,500 lumens)” or “high output (> 9,500 lumens)”, and “shielded” or “unshielded” applications. “Shielded” applications limit the amount of light reaching the area of illumination behind the light pole, which is designed to prevent unwanted light from reaching structures such as houses along a roadway.
EcoFit’s DuraStreet Series light engines are shielded luminaires—they prevent light from reaching areas farther than one-half pole mounting height from the luminaire on the “house side” of the roadway. Using the FTE calculator, the DuraStreet light engines product the following results:
| Drive Current | Distribution | FTE | |
| DuraStreet 30 Series | 350mA | 2/3 | 48 |
| 350mA | 5 | 49 | |
| 525mA | 2/3 | 42 | |
| 525mA | 5 | 42 | |
| DuraStreet 42 Series | 350mA | 2/3 | 50 |
| 350mA | 5 | 53 | |
| 525mA | 2/3 | 44 | |
| 525mA | 5 | 45 | |
| DuraStreet 63 Series | 350mA | 2/3 | 53 |
| 350mA | 5 | 53 | |
| 525mA | 2/3 | 46 | |
